A passion for true craft
It all started with my love for discovering the best things in life – a mantra I try to apply across everything, but most certainly in the suits that I wear. From the first moment I tried a fine tailor-made suit, I was hooked. I was fascinated by its tailor, Mr Willemse. The way his eyes could literally measure me, the way he expertly pinned the fabric; true craft is in the detail, and that first suit was divine. But which cufflinks could match this level of quality? Although there are some fine cufflinks out there, they range from the unnecessarily expensive to the ostentatious and downright vulgar. So I decided to make my own.
I set out to create the ultimate cufflinks by combining a no-nonsense, yet highly sophisticated design with the natural beauty of the world’s finest gemstones. After a two-year global journey, I finally found the perfect gem cutter in Jaipur, India. ‘About us’ would not be complete without Prakash, whose unique ability is to instinctively spot a beautiful, high quality gemstone. Not all great ‘spotters’ are good cutters, but Prakash’s eye is matched by the skill of his hand. He even succeeded at the most intricate part of my design: to place the end of the golden bar a little off center – as the best things in life always come with an element of surprise and wonder.
